A note about Rip speed
We advertise that B3 can rip at up to 40X. In fact the CD mechanism can reach 52X.
However the average speed is lower than this because the disc spins with Constant Angular Velocity (CAV). That means that the effective data rate is slower at the inside of the disk and faster at the outside. (Think of a playground roundabout).
So B3 will only reach the top speed at the outer tracks.
If the CD is old or scratched then the CD mechanism spins the disk more slowly so it can get a better signal to help it get error free data.
Sometimes the CD mechanism will slow down for a while then speed up. Sometimes it decides to rip the whole disk slowly. In that case the rip speed can be as low as 4X.
